SO FAR BEHIND!!!

I am so far behind, and there is so much to catch up, so I will try! Monday was the Louvre and Champs-Elysees down to the Arc De Triomphe.

The Louvre was what Taylor was really excited to see.
"I know so much about the Louvre from my Explorations Class. It was HUGE! All I wanted to do was see the Mona Lisa and take a photo with my phone so it could be my screen saver. The line to see Mona Lisa was more like a crowd of hungry savages elbowing their way up front. When I got to the front of the line to take the picture, my phone ran out of battery and shut down."
Luckily mom was there to take a photo of him by the Mona Lisa so he could prove he saw it! And yes, the picture is really much smaller than you expect, especially next to some of the huge canvasses around it.
This picture is inside the glass pyramid looking back at the north part of the Louvre. On both the east and west sides of us, the building extends and makes 3 sides of a rectangle. Here is a photo of it at night. It is MASSIVE and we wanted to mostly hit the hightlights, but they are all on different wings and different floors, of course!
This is Venus De Milo is a sculpture of Aphrodite and is thought to date back to about 100 BC!!! No wonder her arms didn't last that long!
This hall of other Greek statues was pretty impressive to see.

This is "Winged Victory" the sculpture of the Greek goddess Nike. Now I understand why Nike shoes picked that as their brand name. After the Louvre, we walked right out and down the famous street Champs Elysees which has other famous buildings and monuments along the way, a park and then a mile of shops and restaurants ending at the Arc De Triomphe.
It was a LOT of walking today, but we saw some very iconic images and landmarks that we will never forget!

LONG walk, indeed, but all part of the experience.
