Friday afternoon we went to a city called Tong Li. It is a historical area that is 1000 years old. It is a waterside town that is famous because of it's buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. We got to tour several ancient homes and gardens. It was amazing that everything has a meaning; the direction your house faces, what trees and plants are placed where, where vases and mirrors are placed. Some of the areas were preserved well, and some (where people still live) were in bad shape. We got to go on a boat ride through the town, there is a picture of the lady that rowed our boat. There is also a photo of an opera stage that is still used and a lot of photos of a noblemans home, along with the gardens and pond in the courtyards of the home. We went with a group of people that work with Mr Tang's foundation. Luckily there was an english speaking guide. You will see some pictures of him with Danny, notice how Danny really stands out in a crowd here. There are not many foreigners that come to Wujiang area, so we get a LOT of stares. We did see a few other Americans in Tong Li, but that was the first since leaving the airport!
